This Life Is Kindly

It is with great pleasure that I share a sneak peek from my new solo album, Our Wings May Be Featherless.

I have experienced a variety of emotions around this record, but one of the strongest one is that of relief. I feel so relieved that due to the pandemic we were given this pause in our touring schedule to be at home. This pause allowed a chance for me to breathe and take time to write these songs. This pause allowed David to learn the skills to engineer this record. This pause meant that producer @dacostaband was also at home in his studio and had the space to work on this project with me.

I hope this record will be a pause for you. I hope it will give you some breathing space. I hope you will hear in it the relief I felt in finally writing about the trauma of giving birth, the lengthy grieving process of losing a childhood friend to suicide, and the journey of living with a bipolar brain. But I hope you will also hear the way that a song, or any piece of art, can transform that haunting pain into sounds and rhythm, allowing it to finally diffuse. I have needed to make this record for a long time. The relief I feel that it is finally emerging into this physical realm for you to enjoy is immense.

The first song, This Life Is Kindly, is a statement of belief. My mother loves to say hope is a choice, not a feeling, and this song is very much about that choice. I hope you enjoy this song and I look forward to sharing more songs with you in the coming weeks. Thank you for the incredible support you have provided to @davidwaxmuseum and me, our family, and our music through this Patreon community. We are quite moved by it.

Simply thankful,

Suz
