It really happened -- our national TV debut! Watch here. Huge thanks to the amazingly kind and professional team at CBS This Morning for welcoming us -- and to all the new folks who already bought our new album! We just got news that "Line of Light" just reached #1 on Amazon.com's Movers & Shakers -- and jumped to #80 on iTunes top albums!!
So excited that Billboard just premiered our music video for “Uncover the Gold” — n intricate labor of love with many helping hands. We sought to embrace the ephemeral and dream up ways to write out the lyrics of the song using the mundane, the unexpected, the everyday stuff of life. Watch it here.
We've got a batch of amazing artists to announce for fall tour support. Some of our dearest friends and some bands we can't stop listening to! Each show will be a full night of fantastic music. Tickets on sale here.
You don’t want to miss Anthony da Costa, The Harmaleighs, Heather Maloney, The Sea The Sea & Kayln Fay.
Exciting news to share!! Line of Light debuted at #21 AMERICANA and #15 NEW ARTIST on the Billboard charts and it was the highest Americana debut of the week!! Much of this early success is thanks to all of you who preordered the record and streamed it the first week! Thank you!!!
You can get it directly from our store or start streaming it right now! Also, many fine independent records stores will be carrying it. In this day and age, release day (today!) is when you can have the most impact. Having a big first week of sales and streaming is important for opening up opportunities, so it's a good day to share it far and wide, either on social media or the old-fashioned way of just telling a friend.
Suz and Dave are able to easily switch from being responsible parents to following their musical muses into unexpected areas. They truly are an interlocked duo in life and music, complimenting and supporting each other. I think they must get their limitless energy and stamina by simply being together, and having the family along for everything.
We just want to take a moment to appreciate all the radio stations that have embraced our new single “Uncover the Gold.” Thanks so much to the amazing music directors and DJs that have supported us over the years and are spinning the new song. Two weeks in a row on the charts for Most Added song!!! And we broke through to #38 on the FMQB chart.
Dear Boston fans, we’re thrilled to announce a special album release show at one of our favorite venues — the Lizard Lounge Club — where we got our start almost 12 years ago. There are a very limited number of tickets for this intimate room, so don’t wait to get yours. See you there!
Hey Charlottesville, we’ve got a very special event on Thursday, August 15 to celebrate the release of Line of Light. Come join us for this FREE event at Common House the week before the album drops. Illustrious local DJ @tad_abbey from our beloved WNRN will ask probing, insightful questions, we’ll perform songs from the album, and then you’ll get to be among the first to hear a sneak peek of the whole album. Reserve your spot today!
"David Wax Museum's new album, Line of Light, is a collection of songs that not only give us great tunes, but there's depth in them. Sometimes I hear a melody before the lyrics or the other way around. It's such a lovely thing when a song has a melody that gets into your pores and then, after a few listens, you discover the lyrics do too. Some bands have poets for frontmen and this band is one of them. Lovingly produced by Carl Broemel (guitarist for My Morning Jacket and Ray Lamontagne), it's full of variety. Songs that rock and ballads that seduce you. I'm all in for this record and it's wonderfully creative sounds." — Sara Willis
NASHVILLE! We’re coming back for Americana Fest this September.
There are just a few occasions each year that so many in our music community come together, and this is one of those special times. It’s particularly exciting for us this time around because we will have just released Line of Light.
So honored to share the news that "Uncover the Gold" was the #4 most added song on Triple A Radio this week (!!!), tied w/ The Black Keys and just behind our friends The Head and The Heart for adds. A HUGE thanks to all the wonderful radio stations that started spinning it right away. The support of the music directors and radio DJs has been essential to us building an audience, and we're so grateful for the spins!
We're so excited to share the first track from Line of Light with you! Thanks to BrooklynVegan for premiering the song. Listen to "Uncover the Gold" (now on Spotify) and get a peek at the fall tour dates. We'll be hitting the road with the full band and can't wait to see you out there!
We are so happy to announce that we’ll be back at The Festy this year. The excellent line-up has been announced, including Dawes and our friends Della Mae and Langhorne Slim. This will be our first performance in Charlottesville after the release of Line of Light, and we’ll be excited to share the new songs with you. Festy is moving to the IX Art Park this year, and we are thrilled to have a fantastic urban festival just down the road from our house! We’ll look forward to seeing you there, Cville! Buy your tickets here.
THANK YOU so much for helping us reach our Indiegogo goal for the new album and new van! We really couldn't do this without our community of listeners/advocates/friends, so thank you for believing in us and supporting us. It fills our hearts and fires us up to get back on the road. We're been finalizing the album artwork and credits, and everything is coming into focus for a busy season of touring in 2019-20
What a tour! 10 shows in 10 days including a West Philly commune, a hospital room, a suburban living room, a 200-year-old church, a school, a farm, a restaurant, a hotel, a theater and a night club. We're feeling so grateful to be welcomed into these spaces. This is what community-focused, DIY touring looks like, and it's empowering for us as artists and for the communities that bring us through to rally folks together and build connections through shared experiences. We love when folks decide to start a concert series, to invite us into their home, or start a homegrown venue in their town. Each of us has the power to make a difference in our community by supporting the arts. One of our hosts, Hill, said that hosting felt like inviting joy into his life. What a beautiful sentiment!
David here. One of my oldest friends Pete Buttigieg is running for president in 2020. Honestly, it's still a little surreal to see Pete in the news. We met as political nerds in Washington D.C. in the spring of 2000 when we were both high school seniors. He's an exceptional person -- thoughtful, down-to-earth, intelligent, compassionate -- and it's hopeful for our country that someone like Pete has dedicated himself to public service.
The tour with Los Lobos couldn't have gone better. Ever since I first picked up a jarana and started playing open mics in Cambridge, people have been telling me I should open up for Los Lobos. For years I'd just nod politely and say something like, "That's a great idea. Thanks for the advice." Of course, I knew that if that were ever going to happen, I was still so many steps away from sharing a bill with the seminal band digging deep into American and Mexican music. And so, for a decade, it just remained a pipe dream.
It's the beginning of October, and admittedly, it's been awhile since you've heard from us. We've been busy writing and working on new music in the studio but also taking this time to focus on family and well-being. When we release another record next year, we want to be rested and ready to hit the road with gusto. Thanks for your patience as we hunker down for a little bit! Honestly, the last couple of months have been emotional ones, and it felt hard for me to write a typical update.
Well, the main takeaway from the Concert in the Blind tour is we are definitely going to be doing more of it. Although in some ways the concept is still in its workshop phase, it was clear that we're onto something here. We were so thoroughly invigorated by the experience and felt the audience right along there with us.
